Artificial Grass Case Study

Posted by Clare Coogan

Brief

Having moved in to the property recently one criteria the client was looking for was a manageable garden, that was suitable for eating out on a summers night, child and dog friendly.

The garden hadn’t been touched for years as the previous owners were elderly. It had concrete paving slaps dotted around, which were not child friendly and could be hazardous. The fence was damaged, causing constant repairs after blowing down a few times.

There was a tired looking old shed that was rotted and a concrete plot where a greenhouse had previously been. The garden was overrun with bushes and ivy.

Solution

The whole garden was cleared, the fence and paving was removed, shed dismantled, grass dug out to make it more level. A new timber fence was inserted around the outside and weed membrane was positioned on the ground for the artificial grass. Artificial grass was the perfect solution for the client as their dog suffers from a grass allergy. A new shed and play house was erected.

Outcome

The client was over the moon with the finished work, it is now safe for their children to play. Their dog is happy as he no longer itches when laying on the grass, his mess is easier to clear up and can be washed away with soapy water.

They are now waiting for the lighter nights coming where they can sit out and enjoy their new space.

Artificial Grass for Schools and Nurseries

Posted by Clare Coogan

Artificial Grass is rising in popularity as a flooring choice in schools and nurseries. It looks attractive, its low maintenance and can withstand excessive use and all weather conditions.

It has taken over from traditional playground services such as tarmac and wood chips, proving to be a safer alternative. As a landscape or sports surface, artificial grass provides a soft landing in the case of any trips or falls, it doesn’t wear and tear when exposed to frequent or heavy traffic.

Back in September we completed an installation at Harton Village Kindergarten, South Shields. This was a newly build nursery who were looking for an alternative outdoor flooring option. After discussions regarding the benefits of artificial grass in a nursery environment the client decided it was the right option for them. The main highlights were the low up keep, highly durable and more importantly the safety aspects.

The installation looks fantastic and the children love playing on it (come rain or shine). If you would like any more information on how to transform your educational space or sports field. Please contact us on: 0191 447 3553 or via email: info@infinitygreen.co.uk

Choosing Artificial Grass, doesn’t mean the end of our UK wildlife

Posted by Clare Coogan

You may have heard that trading your natural grass for artificial means the end of wildlife in your garden. This doesn’t have to be the case, there is still a lot you can do to help our favourite creatures and critters in to your garden, this winter and throughout the year.

Food

Feeding wildlife has become a regular habit with us spending around £200 million every year. Offering a nutritional boost to birds and other creatures can help them during the colder months when food can be scarce, a few snacks can make a big difference in extreme weathers to help feed their demanding young. As well as having the enjoyment of watching wildlife from your window.

Birds enjoy snacks such as regular seed mix, fat balls, sunflower hearts, nyger seeds, mealworms, apples and peanuts. These are all great for adding extra calories and offering an energy boost.

If you want to extend your invitation to our mammal friends, foods such as fruit, root vegetables or even dog food? Can attract hedgehogs, shrew, foxes and badges.

Water

Make sure there’s fresh water available for birds to drink or bathe in. Keep bird baths filled with water, if frozen break the ice.

When the weather is warmer, placing a bowl of water in a shady spot in the evening, can help to encourage worms to surface for blackbirds and badgers.

Shelter

Offering shelter such as bird houses and nest boxes are a great hidey hole for our feathered friends to enjoy their snacks, these can be attached to walls, trees and fences. Plant pots and tubs are also great for various creatures, whilst wood offers a nice home for insects and bees.

Knowing you can still enjoy your nature and wildlife in your garden with artificial grass is reassuring and eases any guilt away from those who are no longer able to care for natural grass.

Why Autumn is still a great month to give your garden a makeover.

Posted by Clare Coogan

The summer (if you can call it that) may be over, but it’s not too late to consider renovating your garden.

Yes, Autumn is here and its getting a little chilly, but there’s plenty of reasons to consider artificial grass over these next months. Here are a few of our favourites:

• With the summer just ending the slightest bit of rain will make your grass and those pesky weeds grown faster than ever. With artificial grass, there’s no mowing involved and during installation we lay a weed membrane down that banishes those unwanted weeds – never to be seen again!

• This season is renowned for rain; our lawns don’t like it and can become waterlogged. After this has happened it is almost impossible to revive your lawn. With artificial grass your lawn will never be boggy again, it has a drainage system that allows the water to drain through to the ground.

• Those beautiful children – with their muddy feet! We want to encourage our children to play out in the fresh air and embrace nature, but that comes at the price of dirty clothes and muddy feet – a kitchen floors nightmare! Artificial grass will save hours of cleaning floors, carpets and shoes, there’s no mud and no mess all year around – perfect.

• We love our furry friends – but not their muddy paws! With artificial grass our beloved pets can go out in the garden whatever the weather, they can play, roll around and still stay lovely, clean and your kitchen floors or carpets will be free from any unwanted dirt.

If that hasn’t tempted you enough to spruce up your garden, then another good reason is to get a head start on next year and be all set for the Spring.

Remember an artificial lawn is for all year around, it will look the same in any of the months…clean, green and virtually maintenance free!

Small Business Saturday 2015

Posted by Clare Coogan

Small Business Saturday may have started in the US, but it has proved a huge hit in the UK.

Last year, 16.5 million people shopped in a small business on December 6 last year – 20 per cent more than in 2013 – and 64 per cent of UK consumers were aware of the day.

The grass-roots campaign exists to support, promote and inspire small businesses, such as Infinity Green, on the first Saturday of December and beyond.

Most local authorities, hundreds of MPs and business leaders supported the campaign last year and this year promises to be better than ever.

Infinity Green is one of the 5.4 million small businesses in the UK, contributing to local economies by bringing growth and innovation to the community where they are based.

Our success story is just one of the millions that will be shared on Small Business Saturday – and shows why it’s important to shop local whenever you can.
